St Barbara’s Gwalia Mine Site in Leonora

BGC Cement is building a strong presence in Western Australia’s Goldfields region, with the development of a new Kalgoorlie depot and a positive relationship with new contract partner St Barbara Limited already delivering great results.

BGC Cement General Manager Derek Houareau said the Gwalia mine is the cornerstone asset of St Barbara’s Leonora operations.

“The team at BGC Cement have done an outstanding job to win such a significant contract, particularly as we drive towards achieving growth in the Goldfields region,” he said.

BGC Cement has been working with the ASX-listed gold producer and explorer on its Gwalia mine site to deliver 23,500 tonnes per annum of Low Heat Cement over the life of the three-year contract. The cement, which is delivered by double road trains, is used for backfilling underground mining stopes. The first load was dispatched from Perth in May.

St Barbara will be our first key client for the new Kalgoorlie supply depot“, said BGC Cement sales manager Rob Turkovic.

BGC Cement’s Kalgoorlie customer base is expected to grow as a result of the investment in and commitment to the Goldfields region.
