BGC Cemtech – Bret Barnett
BGC Cement is a leader in the cement manufacturing industry, with Western Australia’s only National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited laboratory for cement, concrete and related products and the recent hire of industry leading chemist Bret Barnett underpinning BGC’s credentials in the space.
Cemtech’s dedicated team of field testers and lab technicians conduct testing of raw materials, manufactured product and samples for a variety of clients. In addition to providing technical services and solutions, the lab undertakes research and development for specialised mining applications.
An established contributor of industry technical knowledge, the Cemtech laboratory is committed to continually improving the quality and performance of BGC’s products and services.
The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art chemical and physical testing equipment, and also provides a range of analysis services to external customers.
Cemtech was recently placed under the direction of chemist Bret Barnett, who joined BGC Cement earlier this year following an extensive career in Eastern Australia.
With more than 25 years’ experience in the cement industry, Bret’s technical expertise enables him to lead Cemtech’s dedicated team of staff to continue the high standard of testing provided to BGC Cement and external clients.
A key reason for Bret’s appointment, is the enhancement of BGC Cement’s technical expertise, to serve both internal and external customers. This has already been demonstrated with Bret assisting Sales Manager, Rob Turkovic, in the field.
Bret has been instrumental in continuing to encourage proactive customer interaction and in developments such as assisting precast clients with Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) procedures, selecting the correct cement type for concrete product manufacturers and working with mining clients on Binder and Tailings analysis.
