Diggers & Dealers 2019, Rob Turkovic & John Howard

After mesmerising the crowd with his statesmanlike keynote speech at the 2019 Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum, former Prime Minister Mr John Howard made his way around the 150 exhibitors to greet attendees.

At one point, the recent octogenarian made a beeline for BGC Cement’s stand, asking Sales Manager Rob Turkovic about our bright, innovate and interactive display.

A big hit of the show, the display included a 1.65m tall cement and lime silo replica, cleverly designed to distribute a measured amount of M&M’s into a takeaway tin.

This contraption was engineered and built by BGC Cement’s Kalgoorlie Manager Chris Sefton, who managed to fit this in with the demands of building their new 21,000m2 West Kalgoorlie depot.

To go into the draw to win a $250 bottle premium scotch whisky, BGC Cement’s visitors had to insert their business card into the card sensor at the top of the mini silo. The display then instructed entrants to place an empty tin at the base of the silo before counting down from five to zero, and loading the tin with M&M’s. The team were delighted to receive nearly 200 entries.

Over the three-day event, BGC Cement representatives Rob and Chris, with Business Analyst Gavin Cheah, worked hard to spread the word that BGC Cement is coming to town.
