Company Record
Established in 1987 on an ideal of quality and reliability, BGC Cement didn’t take long to become a major supplier of cement to the pre-mixed concrete market, concrete product manufacturers, as well as the mining and civil contracting industries. It established its position in the market by innovatively aligning its products and services to the needs of cement and lime users.
More than 35 years later, BGC Cement is one of only two cement manufacturers in Western Australia and boasts a proud record of reliability and quality backed by the state’s only NATA-accredited cement laboratory.
At BGC, we’re dedicated to long term customer relationships, and building the future for more Australians.
Plant & Equipment
BGC Cement’s manufacturing facility is based at Naval Base, within the Perth metropolitan area. It has a storage capacity of more than 350,000 tonnes of raw material and over 50,000 tonnes of premium finished product. Its large capacity cement grinding mills, blending plants, packaging plant and extensive silo storage facilities provide an efficient world-class cement production operation.
BGC Cement also has a new state of the art bulk cement depot and silos in Kalgoorlie to service the Goldfields region.
Kalgoorlie Depot – BGC Cement & Lime
In 2020, the Kalgoorlie facility was opened to expand BGC Cement’s mining-related capability by providing timely distribution of cement to the Goldfields region. Its central location within the Goldfields ensures regional customers experience faster dispatch and turnaround times, shorter lead times and first-class customer service.
The 20,000 sqm depot has a 5000-tonne combined storage capacity for its finished cement products, including bulk cement (general purpose and blended cements), bulker bags and palleted products.
BGC Cement is a major supplier in the region, with the majority of product dispatched from Kalgoorlie being used at mine sites for back-fill and shotcrete. The Kalgoorlie facility can despatch maximum bulk payloads using triple and even quad combination heavy vehicles.
Since July 2020, BGC Cement has been utilising rail for efficient supply of stock to replenish silo levels. In doing so, it has reduced the company’s carbon footprint, improved safety outcomes and maximised stock holdings.
The Kalgoorlie depot continues to support the community. From initial construction throughout to the day-to-day management, the Kalgoorlie facility has utilised the services of local businesses wherever possible. Today the site is managed and staffed by local residents, using local trucks and employing local drivers.
The depot is a proud member of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry and sponsoring member of the GE Business Register.
BGC Cement is also a regular booth holder at the annual Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum, and KBCCI’s What’s Down the Track forum.
Transport Capabilities
Through its sister transport division BGC Transport, BGC Cement operates an extensive fleet of specialised pneumatic road tankers which allows for rapid haulage of bulk cement across Western Australia.
BGC currently operates a fleet of approximately 40 prime movers with 110 pneumatic tankers that are managed from our in-house Logistics office.
Our drivers are experienced, trained professionals with MC licenses and an in-depth knowledge of the protocols, processes and safety requirements associated with the mining sector.
Standard tanker payloads from Perth of 25, 46, 64 and 80 tonnes are available, whilst payloads from our Kalgoorlie depot can reach over 100 tonnes. Each cement tanker set is equipped with its own compressor allowing for full independent discharge of bulk cement into customers’ storage silos.
BGC is a member of the Accredited Mass Managed Scheme to Level 3, which allows an additional 3.5 tonnes on triaxles and an additional 1.5 tonnes on tandem axles to be loaded for deliveries.
Additional Storage: A fleet of pneumatic storage pods and ISO tank containers are also available for hire to assist in short-term on-site cement storage requirements.

• Leadership Commitment Program
• Training and development of employees
• Consultation and work participation
• Hazard identification and control
• Continual improvement
Our commitment is underpinned by the BGC Life Saving Standards that set the expectations on safety practices and measures for our high-risk areas. Safety is represented in the first letter of our S.T.A.I.R. Our Safety Management System is also designed with the necessary processes and procedures to meet the obligations of the Chain of Responsibilities Legislation.
Environment
BGC Cement’s Environment Policy is accredited to ISO 14001 and outlines commitment to a sustainable workplace to eliminate or reduce the impacts associated with our environment aspects.
BGC is an environmentally aware company with a good working relationship with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. Annual environmental compliance audits detail how the company not only complies with the requirements, but also exceeds them. Our sites have extensive dust mitigation systems in place, as well as preventative maintenance schedules to minimise dust emissions, noise pollution and product waste.
In April 2023, BGC Cement published an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for a range of cementitious products manufactured at Naval Base. EPD’s communicate transparent and comparable data and other relevant information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. BGC Cement’s EPD complies with EN 15804+A2 and provides results compliant with 15804+A1.
The publication of this EPD will allow customers to make an informed choice when choosing the right cementitious product for their projects. This is an important step in providing transparency and lowering emissions in the cement industry.
Quality
BGC Cement is a Quality Endorsed Company with ISO 9001 certification. The quality, consistency and manufacturing processes of its products are supported by its in-house testing division, Materials Technology Centre (MTC).
MTC is a fully accredited NATA testing laboratory – the only one of its kind in Western Australia. It provides a wide range of technical services to both internal and external clients, including standard testing, quality control, product assessment, product development, and consultancy in relation to concrete and aggregates. It undertakes testing of raw materials, manufactured products and client samples.
As a NATA accredited laboratory, MTC is committed to the continual improvement of quality and performance of BGC’s products.
Research and Development
As a leading player in the Australian building industry, BGC Cement accepts and embraces the critical role it must play in lowering emissions to be net zero by 2040. The main ingredient in the majority of cement products is Portland Clinker, which releases carbon into the atmosphere during its manufacturing process.
BGC Cement is actively testing and developing new products that contain lower amounts of Portland Clinker to ensure that in the future, its customers can utilise innovative new low carbon cements with confidence.
Training
BGC Cement is a strong supporter of training, developing and continually improving our employees to ensure they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform their role safely and effectively. With a combination of internal and external training, employees are provided with both role essential and professional developmental training opportunities.
